I Heart Arrows

Not sure if you could tell, or if you already knew this, but I enjoy arrows. During Thanksgiving, Harper brought home some Native American chart symbology...unfortunately, an arrow signifies war, which is the opposite of everything I feel. But, alas, I still love them, just not the Native American iconography. I propose this to be a peace arrow. I could go a few different ways with this...pass the peace arrow, cupids arrow of love, etc...

Now that that is all settled, we made a decision on which arrow design we liked and where it will go. Originally intended to be in the dining room, the huge area over the couch won out.

We used the old fence posts from the yard that we saved and reworked them into the now gigantic arrow that rests in the living room. It was completed using the talents of Tony, Harper, and I. It was a fun project and relatively quick.

Hope you enjoy!

PS - The crown molding and baseboards aren't installed yet, that coffee table isn't staying, and the mail slot still needs a cover. Just pretend you don't see any of that.

And now, for the making of...originally, we thought of spray painting the color on, but it didn't cover well and the borders weren't crisp enough. So, we switched to paint and it worked out much better.
