A Good Reminder

"Last night was a long night, and today will be a long day. But, I've just been made aware of the fact that I'm breathing, I have my sight, my hearing, two legs, my freedom, and clothes that I need and love. That's more than good enough." - Latonya Yvette

Always good to get out of your own head and have a reminder of how good we have it.

Have you been reading the recent posts on HONY?  They have been devastating. Hard to imagine living in that kind of environment. Makes everything we face seem small in comparison.

That is all.

Being Possitive

"Try to say nothing negative about anybody for three days, for forty-five days, for three months. See what happens in your life."

 - Yoko Ono

It's on.

Nothing negative. Honest, but not negative for a week.

Beatboxing Baby

This is so ridiculously cute. I keep watching it over and over and over again.

School, Fall, & Holidays

I'm sitting here sweating in the 90 degree summer heat and I am still excited for the coming Holidays. We got a chance to visit our friends farm and plant some pumpkins, which really got me looking forward to October. Will this really be the year of the Bruce Lee El Nino? If so, we shall be feeling the fall weather soon. I hope.

The kids fed and named the sheep, climbed hay bails, planted pumpkins, and saw the barn where we imagined all the awesome parties we will be having.

P.S. - It was hot and they were tired.

Binge Watching...The Current Show

We started, and finished, watching this show on Netflix. I was sold when I originally heard about it, due to it being written by Tina Fey. Hello, 30 Rock! Anyhoo, I loved how weird it was. We laughed, we had a lot of wtf moments, and then the last three episodes...were terrible. What a bummer. I still recommend it, but I hope the next season finishes stronger.

On a side note, there was a podcast about how the ability to binge watch entire seasons creates a serious pop culture issue. A few weeks after it airs, it's already old news. So, sorry for the very outdated suggestion, since it aired March 6th.

Some gems from the show:
- You know a man invented high heels because women never invented anything.
- A bouquet of dogs.
- It's like talking to a chicken.
- The Olson octuplets.

That doesn't sound funny when typed, but the deadpan, quick witted delivery was great.

Keep On Keeping On

"A great attitude becomes a great day, which becomes a great month, which becomes a great year, which becomes a great life."
 - Mandy Hale

Being positive...some days it is easier than others.

Tell It Sister

I know Otto is still a baby, which makes everything a bit more difficult, but having two kids leaves very little time for me. When I saw this, I thought....YES!

I won't make any empty promises to myself about working out or blogging, but I can think of them both fondly and be happy when and if they happen.

Happy Monday! It is chilly out and so very beautiful. Thank goodness for family and warm tea.

Nessie Ladle

Because who wouldn't want this? I think we would have soup every night for dinner if he were ours...

Van Gogh and Turbulence

Have you read this yet? I am bias when it comes to art and it's importance in society and education, so it is not a surprise that I am drawn to articles that support this, but wow, this is amazing.

I have always thought art to be the best story teller, as did many in history, but as a venue to depict an in depth fluid dynamics concept....oh yes.

The ever impressive Van Gogh. Bravo.

A Freaky Good Time

The latter part of that title is questionable. Not sure this would be my idea of a good time, but it could be for those like this sort of thing.  Amazing none the less. More photos here...enjoy!

Podcast of Interest

Since Tony drives to Santa Barbara once a week for work, he has been downloading podcasts. We usually talk about them over the weekend. In general, they are interesting and make for great conversation. I started listening too, NPR, Freakanomics, and This American Life are at the top of the list. Serial just came out, and so far, so good. I waver whether he did it or not. At the moment, I think yes. But this changes at least twice during every episode.

I downloaded a free Iphone podcast app. It easy and quick. I may be late to the whole podcast thing, but I have really enjoyed it. It's like reading a book, only not. Much quicker. Much more accessible for a person without too much personal time. Some are funny, like the one about online dating, some are oddly engrossing, like the one about the amazon fulfillment warehouse. Plus, Tony and I can listen to it together during car trips.

If you listen, hope you enjoy!!

A Favorite

I'm not sure if you Tumblr or not, but my favorite right now is Luna Belle. You should give it a look see when you have time.

Good photo's and quotes too.

For today -

~You only need one man to love you. But him to love you like a wildfire, crazy like the moon, always like tomorrow, sudden like an inhale and overcoming like the tides. Only one man and all of this. ~

Have a great weekend!!  Hoping to meet this baby boy of ours soon.  So very uncomfortable.

Steel Drum Party Tub

Since we are on a backyard kick, why not have one of these?  Wouldn't it be great? Much nicer than a basic cooler, but also much more expensive!

To Rest

"Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time." ~ John Lubbock

Hope you have a great weekend!

SLO in Love

On Sunday, on our way home from Costco, we saw a parrot and two donkeys...only in SLO? Who knows, but I like it.

Stemless Plastic Wine Glasses

I think these would be great for sitting in the backyard enjoying some wine. They are affordable and shatterproof. Woot! We can also take them camping, which would better than the metal cups that we usually end up using.

Looking forward to summer and a backyard.

This is Where I Leave You

I just saw this trailer and I have to say, I am really excited to see this movie. I love the actors and the story looks so good. I smiled when I watched it. One of those all around happy, sad, touching movies with good music. Sign me up!

Movies like these always make me reflect on a personal level and what I am taking away from this 2 minute trailer, for a movie I have never seen, is I'm excited Harper will have a sibling. Makes me happy.

The Beach

I'm somewhere between these two sentiments...and the beach is going to happen this weekend.  Hmmmm...

Hot Out

It has been in the high 90's, possibly even in the low 100's, depending on which weather app you check, or if you believe what your car tells you. I would like to request a pool and some shave ice.

I will attempt to stay cool in this crazy weather.
