I haven't really just eaten a persimmon. I think I have had it in a salad before, but not on it's own.
On our nightly walk last week, we met some neighbors and they were nice enough to pick some from their tree in the front yard.
Apparently there are two kinds. A soft mushy variety and a hard apple like version. We were gifted the latter, thankfully.
I can't say I am a fan of mushy anything.
We sliced it very thin, and as instructed, ate it like an apple.
It was good. Not great, but good. It had a hint of a pumpkin flavor. Very fall. Very pretty too.
If you are feeling adventurous, I suggest trying one. However, not the mushy option.
Enjoy!
